WHO NEEDS A FOREST FIRE? Virtual Childrens' Book Reading

Thursday, November 3rd, our guest Paula Henson of Terra Bella and Poly/Ana invite virtual attendees to a reading of Who Needs a Forest Fire? a picture book for ages 6-9. Discover why we actually need some fires–just not the megafires we have today. After the Gold Rush huge numbers of people arrived in California and disrupted the balanced relationship between nature and the indigenous people of the Sierra Nevada forest.

Now we have massive, destructive blazes. But it doesn’t need to be this way. By changing our attitudes toward fire we can learn from those who know the forest best and take action to find balance once again.

This event is free to attend. Donations are welcomed. thepolyana.org/donate

All donations help fund the budding nonprofit Poly/Ana and its mission to educate and benefit the environment. Please only sign up if you plan on attending.

Discovering Alchemy in Your Garden Webinar

Discovering Alchemy in Your Garden Webinar

Dive into the chemistry of the soil, and attain greater knowledge of how to get the most out of your growing space. Together, we will realize how the flow of water, and the way it transforms in the landscape, is the key to life in the soil. We will also explore the uncanny parallels between humans and plants which can help us make more instinctive decisions in the garden.

When we get to the bottom of the science of how soil and plants operate, we can make more informed decisions on how to treat them. Much of the science about soil remains unknown, but recent breakthroughs on the subject have empowered us with the tools to nurture the landscape (and the soil) in a way that stores more carbon, holds more water, and allows plants to reach their greatest potential.
